For all three ends, choose Viega system pipe with an outside diameter of 22 mm, in stainless steel grade 1.4401 or 1.4521. As an equal tee, its branch is 22 mm too; if the branch needs to be smaller, choose a Sanpress Inox reducing tee instead.

Viega recommends its own tools for its press fittings, because the reliability of the joint depends above all on the tool being in faultless condition. For this tee, that means a Viega press tool with a Viega press jaw suitable for Sanpress Inox in the 22 mm size. Viega requires the tool to be maintained regularly by an authorised service partner.

The name SC-Contur refers to a feature of Viega's press fitting design rather than to any standard. If you forget to press one of the three ends, that joint is not tight and leaks during filling or testing, so you find the mistake before the pipework is covered. According to Viega, such a joint shows up with water at 1 bar to 6.5 bar and with air at 22 mbar to 3 bar.
