It moves a threaded connection forward, typically when a wall outlet sits behind the tiles and a tap or angle valve would otherwise end up too deep. This 1/2" extension adds a 30 mm long piece between the outlet and the next part and keeps the same G 1/2 size at both ends.

The male end, with the thread on its outside, screws into the female thread of the wall outlet. The female end, threaded on the inside, then receives the male thread of your tap, angle valve or nipple. Both ends are G 1/2, so the connection size does not change.
