Description

Viega Sanpress Inox press reducer 42×35 mm (model 2315.1, Art. 436339) connects 35 mm stainless steel pipe to a 42 mm fitting without an intermediate piece of pipe. Its plug-in end goes into a 42 mm socket, and the pipe is pressed into the 35 mm press end.

The reducer’s material is stainless steel 1.4401. The 35 mm press end has an EPDM sealing element and SC-Contur, while the plain 42 mm end has no seal of its own: the receiving fitting provides the tightness.

Viega system pipe of grade 1.4401 or 1.4521 goes into the 35 mm end, in lines for drinking water, heating or compressed air. The system’s nominal pressure is 16 bar, and Viega limits the temperature to 80 °C in drinking water and 105 °C in heating. No press tool is supplied with the reducer. To continue the line, pick press fittings for 35 mm stainless steel pipe from the matching page of our catalogue.

Which pipe and fitting does the 42×35 mm reducer connect?

The 35 mm press end takes Viega system pipe of that outside diameter, made of stainless steel 1.4401 or 1.4521. The 42 mm plug-in end does not take pipe: it goes into the socket of a 42 mm Sanpress Inox tee, elbow or coupling and is fixed when that socket is pressed.

Which jaws do you need, and how far apart must the pressings be?

You need Sanpress Inox jaws in two sizes: 35 mm for the reducer's press end and 42 mm for the socket that takes the plug-in end. Viega's instructions give a minimum distance between pressings made with jaws of 10 mm at the 35 mm size and 15 mm at 42 mm. Tools are not included.

What does SC-Contur give you on this reducer?

Thanks to SC-Contur, the 35 mm press end is not tight until it has been pressed, so a missed joint shows itself by leaking in the leak test. Viega confirms this for wet testing at 1.0–6.5 bar and for dry testing from 22 mbar to 3.0 bar. The joint at the 42 mm end depends on the socket of the receiving fitting.
