Both sides take 28 mm Viega system pipe in stainless steel 1.4401 or 1.4521. If the installation needs VdS approval, for example a sprinkler system, use the elbow with 1.4521 pipe: the VdS approval covers only that combination.

Viega advises pressing with its own tools, such as a Viega Pressgun with a Viega 28 mm jaw compatible with Sanpress Inox. After cutting the pipe to length, remove the burr, clean the end and mark how far it must go in; slide the elbow on up to that mark and press both ends one after the other. The tool needs regular servicing by an authorised partner.

The Sanpress Inox system is rated by Viega at PN 16, i.e. 16 bar. In drinking water the operating temperature should not exceed 80 °C, although 95 °C is allowed for up to an hour; in heating systems the limit is 105 °C. Viega also notes that the hotter the water or air in the pipe, the faster the EPDM seals age, so under special operating conditions compare the appliance maker's specifications with those of the system.
