Both ends take Viega stainless steel system pipe with a 15 mm outside diameter, in grade 1.4401 or 1.4521. Viega also warns that, at this size, a short pipe piece between two press fittings must not be shorter than their two insertion depths added together; otherwise the pipe cannot go in fully and the joint may leak.

Viega specifies a press machine with constant pressing force, fitted with a press jaw or press ring that suits the 15 mm pipe diameter and has the matching profile; the manufacturer recommends its own system tools. Before pressing, cut the pipe square with a pipe cutter, deburr the end inside and out and mark the insertion depth.

The Sanpress Inox system figures apply: 16 bar, up to 80 °C in drinking-water installations, with short peaks of up to 95 °C for no more than 60 minutes, and a limit of 105 °C in heating systems. These are values for the whole Sanpress Inox installation rather than a separate rating of the elbow alone.
