Description

Viega Rotguss elbow 90° 3/4″ (model 3090, Art. 269258) turns a threaded pipe run through a right angle where both pipe ends carry a male thread. Each end has an Rp3/4 female thread, so both pipes or nipples screw straight into it.

The elbow is made of gunmetal (Rotguss grade), and both parallel female threads follow DIN EN 10226-1. Roughen a smooth male thread before hemping so the sealant stays in place.

This 3/4″ elbow is used in drinking-water, heating and gas installations; DVGW certificate DV-7401AO2957 includes Art. 269258. Sealing material is not included. Where it has to sit on another female port, fit a 3/4″ Rotguss nipple with two male threads between the two parts; each of its ends goes into one female thread. What do female and male thread mean, and which one does my pipe need?

Female threads are inside a part, male threads on its outer surface. Both ends of this 3/4" elbow have an Rp3/4 female thread, so your pipes or nipples need a 3/4" male thread. If the part you are connecting also has a female thread, fit a nipple between the two.

Can this elbow be used on gas and heating lines?

Yes. Art. 269258 is listed on DVGW certificate DV-7401AO2957, which covers gas and water-supply products, and Viega's manual names heating water and gases as media for these fittings. On all threaded joints, gas lines included, only DVGW-marked, non-hardening sealants may be used.

What should I check before installing the elbow?

Viega's manual says every part must be checked, because transport and storage can cause damage: replace damaged components, and dirty ones must not be installed. Make sure the thread is undamaged. In service, protect the elbow from high chloride concentrations, both from the medium in the pipe and from outside.
