VIEGA Advantix Bathroom Drain, Extra-Flat, DN 50, Water-Seal Trap, 100 x 100 mm, Art. 557119

Viega Advantix bathroom floor drain (model 4935.1, Art. 557119) is a point drain with a 100×100 mm square top and a DN 50 horizontal outlet. It is designed for the small to medium volumes of water typical of private homes, and its installation height starts at 75 mm.

The plastic body has a flange for conventional membrane waterproofing, a removable odour trap with a 30 mm water seal, and an outlet that swivels on a ball joint. The supplied top is rotatable, height-adjustable and can be cut to the floor build-up; its plastic frame holds a stainless steel 1.4301 grate. A DN 40 side inlet takes a further waste pipe, for example from a washbasin, but has no odour trap of its own. The drain is rated to load class K 3.

Viega gives a drainage capacity of 0.6 l/s with water standing 20 mm above the grate, and states that this capacity and the 30 mm water seal do not meet the applicable standards, so make sure before installation that it is enough for your shower. Membrane waterproofing is not recommended for floor-level showers; there Viega specifies liquid-applied waterproofing under the tiles.
