Description

Effebi extension fitting 1/2″ (Art. 06470404C) is a chrome-plated piece 20 mm long that brings a threaded outlet slightly forward. One end has a G1/2 female thread and the other a G1/2 male thread: the male end screws into the existing female outlet, and the tap or valve then connects to its female end.

Effebi’s TOF Link catalogue shows it as a chromium-plated heavy brass extension with male and female ends (figure 529/OT). Fittings in the series are made of CW617N brass to EN 12165, and their threads are parallel G threads to ISO 228-1.

What do female and male thread mean, and which end of this extension goes where?

On a female end the thread sits inside the bore, while on a male end it runs around the outside. The male end of this 1/2" extension screws into a female outlet, such as a wall elbow or another fitting, while the female end takes the male thread of a tap, valve or nipple, with the 20 mm body in between.

Which thread standard does the 20 mm extension use (G, R or Rp), and how is the joint sealed?

Both ends carry G 1/2 threads to ISO 228-1. These are parallel and, unlike a tapered R thread, do not seal on the thread itself, so wrap the male end with PTFE tape or with hemp and sealing paste, or use a flat gasket where the mating part has a seat for one.

Is this extension chrome-plated or plain brass?

Art. 06470404C is the chrome-plated version: in Effebi's TOF Link catalogue the code with the C suffix sits in the table for the chromium-plated heavy brass extension, while the same 20 mm extension without chrome plating is listed as 06470404.
