Description

Viega Sanpress press tee 54×54 mm x 1/2″ (model 2217.2, Art. 197353) takes a threaded branch off a d 54 mm main. The run has two press ends, and the side outlet an Rp 1/2 female thread for connecting a valve or nipple with a 1/2″ male thread.

The body is silicon bronze (CC246E / CW246E). Both press ends have factory-fitted EPDM sealing elements, and thanks to SC-Contur an unpressed end leaks during the leak test.

The tee fits d 54 mm pipe: Viega Sanpress stainless steel in grades 1.4401 or 1.4521, or copper to DIN EN 1057. It is intended for drinking-water, heating and compressed-air systems, holds DVGW approval and is designed for a nominal pressure of 16 bar. What maximum pressure and temperature does it withstand in drinking-water and heating systems?

According to Viega, the Sanpress system is designed for PN 16, that is 16 bar. In drinking water the operating temperature is up to 80 °C, with 95 °C allowed briefly for up to 60 minutes; in heating systems to DIN EN 12828 the limit is 105 °C. These values also apply to this 54×54 mm x 1/2" tee.

Which press tool and jaw profile does installation need?

Following Viega's instructions, a 54 mm joint needs a machine with constant pressing force and a press jaw, or a press ring with hinged adapter, made for this diameter and with the matching profile. With press jaws on d 54 mm pipe, leave at least 25 mm between two pressings.

Can this tee be used with galvanised steel pipe?

Its press ends are not meant for galvanised steel pipe; they take stainless steel or copper pipe. Viega's instructions state that stainless steel and galvanised steel components must not be connected directly, and Viega recommends threaded or adapter press connectors made of gunmetal (Rotguss) or silicon bronze for that transition.
