Viega Sanpress Inox stainless steel pipe 42×1.5 mm (model 2205, Art. 807405) serves the 42 mm sections of drinking-water, heating and compressed-air installations built with the Sanpress Inox system. Viega produces it in straight 6 m lengths, and we sell it by the metre.

The material is stainless steel 1.4521 (AISI 444), which Viega designates for drinking-water installation; the pipe is laser-welded and manufactured to DIN EN 10088, DIN EN 10312 and DVGW GW 541. Its ends are closed with green plugs, the colour Viega uses for 1.4521, whereas the 1.4401 pipes of the same system carry yellow ones.

With 42 mm Sanpress Inox fittings the system is designed for PN 16, a maximum operating pressure of 16 bar, and the pipe also takes Sanpress press fittings of the same size. For this diameter Viega allows up to 3.00 m between pipe clamps, and the clamps should have chloride-free sound-insulating inlays. Fittings, clamps and the press tool are not included. How is it sold: by the metre or as a whole coil?

Viega produces the 42×1.5 mm pipe as rigid 6 m lengths, not as a coil, and our specifications give the metre as the sale unit. Order as many metres as your line is long.

What maximum temperature can the 42 mm pipe take in drinking water and in heating?

In drinking-water installations Viega allows a maximum operating temperature of 80 °C, with short peaks of 95 °C for up to 60 minutes. Heating systems built to DIN EN 12828 may run at up to 105 °C. These limits apply to the 42×1.5 mm pipe within the Sanpress Inox system.

How much water does one metre of the 42×1.5 mm pipe hold, and what does it weigh?

According to Viega's pipe data, one metre of the 42×1.5 mm size holds 1.19 l of water and weighs 1.52 kg. The volume is useful when you calculate filling and flushing, the weight when you plan the supports.

What should I bear in mind when choosing insulation and building materials?

Stainless steel needs protection from chloride. Viega requires insulating materials with a water-soluble chloride ion content of no more than 0.05 %, and the pipe must not come into contact with building materials or mortar that contain chloride.
