Viega Bronze Nipple 1 1/4" x 1", 49 mm, Male Thread, Art. 269173

It joins two parts that both have female threads, but in different sizes. On this nipple the R 1 1/4 male thread goes into a 1 1/4" female outlet and the R 1 male thread into a 1" female part, such as a valve. At 49 mm long, the joint stays compact and needs no intermediate pipe.

This nipple has R threads only, R 1 1/4 and R 1, both tapered male threads to EN 10226-1. They are designed to screw into parallel Rp female threads and seal within the thread, so there is no gasket as on a G connection. Viega lists hemp with paste, PTFE thread tape or thread-sealing cord as suitable sealants.

Viega's dimension table gives a spanner size of 44 mm for the polygonal section of Art. 269173, which is 49 mm long overall. Held at that section with a spanner, the nipple does not turn while you tighten the 1" part onto the R 1 end.
