Viega Smartpress press reducer 32×20 mm (model 6715.2, Art. 729820) takes a 32 mm multilayer line straight down to 20 mm within one fitting, two steps smaller in the Smartpress size range. This saves fitting two reducers one after the other.

The part is gunmetal (Rotguss grade); Viega lists it as a reducing coupling, not as a threaded adapter. Both ends are O-ring-free press connections with SC-Contur, so an end left unpressed by mistake leaks during the leakage test.

The 32 mm end takes 32 mm pipe and the 20 mm end takes 20 mm pipe from the Viega Smartpress, Pexfit Pro or Pexfit Fosta systems. In drinking-water installations the system is rated for 10 bar and 70 °C, in heating for 10 bar and 80 °C; it also suits compressed air. Press tools are not included. Which pipes fit the two ends of the 32×20 mm reducer?

The 32 mm end takes 32 mm pipe and the 20 mm end takes 20 mm pipe from Viega's Smartpress, Pexfit Pro or Pexfit Fosta systems. Viega allows Smartpress press connectors to be used only with these pipes, since use with pipes of other systems or makers has not been tested.

Which tools does each end of this reducer need?

On the 32 mm side the pipe is cut with pipe cutters model 2191 and pressed with a press machine and a Smartpress jaw, model 2799.7 or 2784.7. For the 20 mm side Viega also allows a pipe shear, model 5341 or 2040, and the hand press tool 2782.5. Viega does not allow saws or angle grinders for cutting.

How does SC-Contur help when the 32×20 mm reducer is tested?

SC-Contur makes an unpressed joint leak. If you have missed pressing one end of the reducer, water or air escapes during the leakage test, so the joint can be pressed before commissioning. The installer has to carry out this test on the finished but uncovered system and document the result.
